Israel Targets Al Jazeera’s Few Remaining Journalists in Northern Gaza

Israel targets a few journalists in northern Gaza who are covering recent intensive violence with Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters.

The Israeli army is targeting to rescue the residents of northern Gaza from the intense violence that has happened in the last three weeks.

But behind closed doors, they have prevented foreign journalists from entering the enclave for over a year. As the communication lines are cut off, many Palestinian journalists have now left the area themselves.

The media blackout intensifies on Wednesday, Oct 23, with an accusation of six Palestinian journalists still working in the region of being fighters or veterans of Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Terrorist organizations by the European Union raise the acquisition.

The six named journalists are Anas al-Sarif, Talak Aruki, Alaa Salaama, Hossam Shabat, Ismail Farid, and Ashraj Safad.

The Israeli military published documents with the proof of integration of Hamas terrorists within Al Jazeera.

All those work with the Qatar news channel Al Jazeera, and among them are the two best-known faces, Anas 27, and Hossam 23, who broadcast live every day across television in the Arab world for the past year.

The remaining 4 are identified as an infantry soldier and deputy directors of combat propaganda of Islamic Jihad.

the channel said in a statement, “Al Jezeera categorically rejects the Israeli Occupational Forces portal of our journalists as a terrorist and denounces their use of fabricated evidence.”

“The networks view this fabricated accusation as a blatant attempt to silence the few remaining journalists in the region, thereby accusing the harsh realities of the war from audiences worldwide.”

The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) shares on X that “Israel had repeatedly made similar unproven claims without producing credible evidence.”

Israel has strictly restricted access to Gaza for international media outlets since it launched its assault on Palestinian territory.

As Israeli forces continue their intensive ground offensive in northern Gaza, the area has been under siege for 19 days, and 770 people have already been killed, according to the Gaza Government Media Office.

Israel also blocked the area with aid and food, where 400,000 people were stuck.

Although the situation raises serious concerns. It calls for urgent international attention and action to protect journalists and unfold their rights to report freely and safely amid armed conflicts.
