Nissan has announced a major recall affecting more than 480,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. The recall is due to a manufacturing defect in the engines that could cause engine failure while driving. This issue raises safety concerns for drivers and passengers. The affected vehicles include several popular Nissan and Infiniti models. These are the 2019-2020 Nissan Altima, 2021-2024 Nissan Rogue, 2019-2022 Infiniti QX50, and 2022 Infiniti QX55. Severe flash floods have devastated Central Texas, killing at least 24 people and leaving up to 25 children missing from summer camp, officials said on July 4, 2025. The flooding struck the Texas Hill Country, especially Kerr County after intense overnight storms caused the Guadalupe River to rise rapidly by about 26 feet in just 45 minutes. The flooding caught many residents off guard. Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice said the floods happened very quickly with little warning, making evacuation difficult. Rainfall totals reached 10 to 13 inches in some areas, overwhelming the river and nearby communities. Among the missing are 23…

Head through any new city suburb or business park, or glance at the frontages of new homes or shops on the high street, and you’ll likely see a common trend: thin, lightweight-framed windows that help to let the light in. We live in an age where securing your home and property is paramount, and burglar-proof windows made from aluminium are quickly becoming the de facto standard among savvy developers, architects and homeowners. Aluminium is no stranger when it comes to being associated with strength and style. However, in more recent times, its security credentials have taken centre stage. Whereas traditional…
Sir Keir Starmer backed Rachel Reeves to remain chancellor in the following election and for many years after. Rachel Reeves was seen crying during Sir Starmer’s questions. The Prime Minister refused to declare whether Reeves would remain in her duties until the next election in front of MPs in the Commons. During a season, Reeves was seen wiping away her tears as she sat behind the PM. Later, the UK Prime Minister said that he worked in lockstep with Reeves, also adding that Reeves did an excellent job as a chancellor. Following PMQs, a spokesperson for Reeves said that she had been…
The UK government has announced major changes to the skilled worker immigration rules. These changes will come into effect on July 22, 2025. The aim is to raise the skill and salary thresholds for Skilled Worker visas. This is part of the government’s plan to restore control over the immigration system and focus on higher-skilled workers. The key change is raising the minimum skill level for jobs eligible under the skilled worker route. Previously, jobs at the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) level 3 (similar to A-level skills) were available. From July 2025, only jobs at RQF level 6 or above (mainly…
As inflation rises and markets become more unpredictable, UK investors are looking for new ways to protect and grow their wealth. While gold has traditionally been seen as a safe investment option, whisky casks are gaining attention as a profitable alternative. Whisky casks are expected to remain in high demand through 2025. Some casks have seen their value increase by over 500% over the last ten years, outperforming traditional investments like gold and fine wine. Unlike stocks or bonds, whole casks of whisky are physical items that are hard to come by and kept in safe storage. That’s why they…
The highly anticipated science fiction film Project Hail Mary has completed filming, marking a major milestone for the project. The movie is based on Andy Weir’s best-selling 2021 novel of the same name. It stars Ryan Gosling as the lead character, Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher-turned-astronaut on a mission to save humanity. Project Hail Mary is directed by Oscar-winning duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The screenplay is written by Drew Goddard, who also adapted Weir’s earlier novel The Martian into the acclaimed 2015 film starring Matt Damon. Goddard has compared the two movies, saying that fans of The Martian will likely…
Recent data has revealed that almost half of business properties are underinsured, with this rather worrying gap partly driven by property owners failing to carry out regular insurance valuations. The RICS recommends that a full rebuild cost assessment be carried out once every three years as a minimum, or at least any time you make significant changes to the property, like adding an extension. A rebuild (or reinstatement) cost assessment, as the name suggests, is about evaluating the cost of rebuilding the property from the ground up in the event of a catastrophic event like a fire or a flood,…
