Popular Holiday Crisps Recalled: Thousands of crisp packets have been recalled throughout England, and consumers are being advised to return them for a complete refund.
Because of the product’s potential to cause allergic reactions, swelling, or a “severe” reaction, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a warning. Due to allergy concerns, the crisps were recalled.
Ottolenghi Vadouvan Oita Chips were recalled by the watchdog because they contain allergens that aren’t listed on the label.
Customers who are allergic to mustard or celery, which were not mentioned on the label, are at risk.
To notify anyone impacted, Ottolenghi has recalled the product and contacted the appropriate allergy support groups.
The following are the product details:
- Pack size: 150g
- Batch code: 290525, 300525
- Best before: 28 May 2025, 29 May 2025, 30 May 2025.
The notice issued to customers states: “We are recalling Vadouvan Pita Chips due to the product containing undeclared mustard and celery.
“If you have bought Vadouvan Pita Chips as detailed above, and you have an allergy/ intolerance/ sensitivity to mustard and celery, do not eat them.”
Customers are encouraged to return the item to the store for a complete refund, whether or not they have a receipt. According to estimates, between 2.8 and 11.1% of Europeans suffer from celery allergies, especially in nations where raw celery is widely consumed.
Yotam Assaf Ottolenghi, a British chef, restaurateur, and food writer of Israeli descent, created Ottolenghi. It started as a tiny store in Notting Hill in 2002 and has since developed a cult following because of its Middle Eastern and Mediterranean-inspired fusion cuisine. Their website does not currently have the Oita chips listed, but they do have Za’artar Pita Chips, which cost £6.30.

Signs of allergic reactions
An allergy’s symptoms might appear up to an hour after coming into contact with the offending food or trigger, but they typically appear within minutes. Although moderate to severe allergic reactions are possible, the majority are minor.
The most serious and potentially fatal type of allergic reaction is anaphylaxis. It’s critical to detect and respond promptly to anaphylactic symptoms since they can cause collapse, unconsciousness, and in rare circumstances, death.
Among the mild to moderate symptoms are
- Itchy tongue, throat, and mouth
- Swelling of the lips, face, or eyes
- Itchy rash
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea
- Abdominal pain
- Sneezing
- Runny rose
The following are severe and anaphylactic symptoms:
- Swelling in your tongue and throat
- Breathing difficulties or rapid breathing
- Swallowing difficulties
- Harsh voice
- Noisy breathing
- Coughing or wheezing
- Feeling worn out or perplexed
- Feeling lightheaded
- Faint or fainting
It is important to treat anaphylaxis and its symptoms as a medical emergency.
