Tesco, the giant grocery chain, is urging consumers to take action by Monday, March 31, the end of the month, since it is implementing changes to its Clubcard app.
Tesco has revealed a significant update to its app. The British supermarket is advising its users to upgrade their apps by March 31 since outdated versions will stop working after that date. Customers will no longer be able to use the digital Clubcard if they don’t.
A growing percentage of Tesco customers are choosing the convenience of the Clubcard app on their mobile devices, even though a sizable portion still use their physical Clubcard or even a keyfob Clubcard when they buy. It’s all too often to arrive at the checkout and discover that you forgot your Clubcard, forcing you to pay the non-Clubcard fees, which are frequently significantly more.
You can quickly access your Clubcard on your phone and scan it at the register thanks to the app, which removes the need to remember to bring it.
However, Tesco plans to update its app for Android and Apple iPhone customers starting on March 31. Customers will therefore need to install the update in order to continue using their Clubcard on the Tesco Shopping and Clubcard app.
Tesco said in a message to its customers: “To increase your data protection and online security, we’re updating our Tesco app to a newer version.”.
After 31 March, older versions of the app will no longer work. To keep shopping and enjoying all of your Clubcard benefits on your app, make sure you have the latest version before 31 March.
The upgrade will improve security features and client data protection. Furthermore, Tesco eliminated its Pay In-Store feature, which involved a modification to the way points were recorded.
According to sources, Tesco emailed their consumers to let them know that they were upgrading to a newer version of their app. The app was being updated for online security and data protection.
The business added that all previous iterations of the app will cease to function after March 31 and that users must have the most recent version in order to continue shopping and taking advantage of their Clubcard advantages. All of the points accumulated on the digital Clubcard will be lost if the upgrade is not implemented.
How to Update the Tesco App?
The application is easy to update. Users can follow on-screen directions by going to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. According to a report in the Mirror, Tesco assured its consumers that this upgrade would not affect their ability to shop on their website.
The firm also said that customers must bring their receipt and Clubcard to a big shop within 14 days if they are unable to access the app update on their current device. The supermarket will then add any missed Clubcard points or reimburse any missed pricing.
The grocery chain advised shoppers to use their preferred payment method to pay for their purchases separately. By scanning their plastic Clubcard, key fobs, Tesco Bank cards, or by connecting their Clubcard to their Apple or Google Wallet, customers can access Clubcard rates and get points.
For every £1 spent on groceries in-store or online, Tesco Clubcard customers receive one point. Additionally, they receive one point for every two litres of Tesco petrol, £1 spent on Tesco Mobile, or £4 spent with a Tesco credit card.
Customers receive a £1.50 Clubcard voucher after reaching 150 points. These can be used in-store or doubled in value with certain Rewards Partners, such as Thorpe Park, Pizza Express, and the RAC.
Tesco distributes Clubcard vouchers four times a year, in February, May, August, and November. The validity of these coupons is two years. By making a minor purchase on the Tesco Clubcard Rewards website, customers can extend the validity of their vouchers.
