As the company, M&S (Marks and Spencer), struggles to recover from a recent cyber attack, it says that it has stopped taking online orders from shoppers. M&S cyber attack caused further chaos for its shoppers.Ā
M&S customers reported they have been facing a huge problem since last week. On Tuesday, the company confirmed it had faced a recent “cyber incident”. Because of this incident, Marks& Spencer has paused taking online orders. The websites and apps are not taking any purchase orders, including food and clothing deliveries. M&S promised that the company would refund the payment to the customers on Friday.Ā
The company’s share fell by 5% after the announcement. The retailer wrote in a post on X that they are very sorry for this inconvenience. They also stated that their experienced team, supported by leading cyber experts, is trying extremely hard to restart the online service.Ā
The company also expressed its gratitude towards its customers, saying that the team is incredibly grateful to its customers, colleagues, and partners for their tremendous understanding and support.
The retailer confirmed that despite the cyber incident affecting its online business but its stores remain open.Ā
earlier, the company was dealing with issues that affected the contactless payment issues such as Click &Collect, and gift card payments. Since the firm suspended online ordering, Marks & Spencer has reacted to social media posts advising shoppers that these problems persist.Ā
M&S has already gained some praise from cybersecurity experts for responding relatively straightforwardly. As of now, Marks & Spencer is maintaining the line that the shoppers need not take any initiatives. According to McAfee EMEA head Vony Gamot, M&S must take some wise steps.Ā
The company added in a statement on Tuesday, “We are taking actions to further protect our network”. The firm also stated that it will continue to maintain its customer service.Ā
The company said that it has already reported the incident to the National Cyber Security Centre. According to a report, the body is already working with M&S to support their response to the cyber attack incident.Ā
The National Crime Agency said that they are also working alongside partners in the NCSC to understand the incident thoroughly and support the company.Ā
