Taylor Fritz outlived Frances Tiafoe in a five-set semifinal. Jannik Sinner defeats Jack Draper in a physically demanding clash.
The men’s singles final is on Sunday. The final match of the Glam Slam Season will be held on Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Jannik Siner is the No. 1 player and will take on an American, Tailor Fritz, for the US Open men’s Singles title. Siner reached at US Open Tennis 2024 after following news that he tested positive for a banned substance, clostebol. And he received an anti-doping sanction.
Siner has parted ways with his physiotherapist and his fitness coach. The International Tennis Integrity Agency granted Siner’s explanation that the results of the tests were caused by their actions. The authority found, “no fault or negligence” by Siner himself.
During the tournament, Siner dropped just two sets en route to the final and won in the semifinal match Draper vs Siner. Siner was asked about his left wrist that he fell on in the Draper match and needed physiotherapy to loosen.
The ESPN broadcast showed that Jannik Siner was putting ice on his injured wrist after the match. The Italian said that the wrist was fine and did not need too much concern.
Taylor Fritz rallied from two sets to one down to defeat a fellow American, Frances Tiafoe in the five sets 4-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1. He relied upon his big offerings and found a way to win the larger points as the match progressed. Specifically, a 31-shot rally that titled things in his favour.
Fritz is looking forward to winning his first Grand Slam title. He is eagerly trying to become the first American man after Andy Roddick in 2003. For 21 years, there is no American to win a Grand Slam tournament.
Siner is looking forward to winning his second major of this year, 2024, after winning the Australian Open earlier this year. Siner and Fritz have each beaten each one earlier once. The last time they played was in Indian Wells, 2023, at that match, Sinner beat Fritz in three sets.
However, this is arguably Draper’s best chance of winning the Grand Slam US Open. Whatever happens next, he has already written his name in the history books by becoming the first British man to reach the last four here since Andy Murray in 2012.
