Kenny Dalglish’s Early Life 

Kenny Dalglish was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in the year of 1951 on March 4. Then, when he was 14, his family moved to Ibox in Glasgow in a newly built tower block.

When he was in primary school, his special talent for football started to show. He won multiple school football games and then used to play for local youth teams.

Then, in 1966, after two failed trials at Liverpool and  West Ham United, ​​​​​Kenny joined Celtic in  1975.

Dalglish’s professional journey began at Celtic in 1968. In the 9th season, he made 204 league appearances and scored 111 goals, contributing to multiple league titles and domestic cups.

Then in 1977, he transferred to Liverpool, where throughout his career there, he scored 118 goals in 355 league appearances and secured numerous domestic and international titles. 

He has also played in international matches, where he got selected for Scotland’s FIFA World Cup squad, and he played in 1974, 1978, 1982, and 1986 in all 4 years. Then, however, due to injury, he stopped participating in international football. 

After that, in 1985, he joined Liverpool as a player-manager and stayed there till 1991. Then, after resigning from Liverpool’s player-manager position, he joined Blackburn Rovers in the football management post, where he led the second division to win the Premier League in 1995.

After this, he also earned the position of director of football at that club. But then, after working in Blackburn for a few years, he left the club and took over the manager post at Newcastle United. 

After working in management posts in different clubs, Kanny decided that it was time for him to return to his roots. As a result, in 1999, he joined as a director of football at Celtic.

He also got promoted to the manager position; however, after a year, he left the club. Focused on the cancer care charity founded by his wife, Marina Dalglish.

Finally, in 2011, Dalglish returned to Liverpool as a caretaker manager, then, after one year, he decided to retire from his managerial career as well.
