Kojima Productions has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 cult hit, Death Stranding, titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, will launch globally on June 26, 2025, exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
Fans who purchased the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition will enjoy a 48-hour early access window, allowing them to start playing from midnight local time on June 24, 2025.
The release date was revealed well in advance, with Hideo Kojima, the game’s director, explaining that the timing was largely determined by the publisher, Sony, to avoid clashing with other major PlayStation releases scheduled for 2025.
Kojima described the release date decision as strategic, ensuring the game gets the spotlight it deserves without competing with other big titles from Sony.
Global Release Times and Editions
While most players will gain access to the game at midnight local time on June 26, the Digital Deluxe Edition, priced at $79.99, offers several perks, including the 48-hour early access, exclusive in-game items such as the Machine Gun (MP Bullets) LV1, and various Battle, Boost, and Bokka Skeletons in gold variants.
The Standard Edition is priced at $69.99 and includes the base game with pre-order bonuses like the Quokka Hologram and silver variants of the skeletons.
No official map of release times has been provided by Kojima Productions, but the game unlocks at midnight local time worldwide, making it easy for players to jump in as soon as the clock strikes twelve in their respective time zones.

Set eleven months after the events of the first game, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach takes place primarily in a post-apocalyptic Australia.
Players will once again assume the role of Sam Porter Bridges, portrayed by Norman Reedus.
He embarks on a mission to connect isolated survivors and colonies to a wireless communications network known as the “chiral” network to prevent humanity’s extinction.

For those accessing the game early via the Deluxe Edition, Kojima Productions has set streaming guidelines to prevent spoilers. Early access players are asked to stop streaming after reaching campaign mission “Order: No. 28” to avoid revealing major plot points prematurely.
