Cookware Recall Over Health Risks

The Office for Product Safety warns consumers of the migration of heavy metals in recalled items. With nine Emba cookware products recalled owing to a severe health hazard, UK residents were warned to check their kitchens. This emergency recall was issued by the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) after testing revealed the potential migration of heavy metal parts when products are in use.

Cast iron skillets and griddles in multiple sizes are included among the recalled items, which were available for sale from December 27, 2023, through January 24, 2025.

Emba Cookware cast iron skillets and griddles, which range in size and are frequently sold in sets or collections, are the products involved.

Emba Cookware Recalled

The specific items affected are:

  • Emba 8″ Cast Iron Skillet (5056461700633)
  • Emba 10″ Cast Iron Skillet (5056461700602)
  • Emba 12″ Cast Iron Skillet (5056461700640)
  • Emba Skillet Collection (all skillets) (5056461701050)
  • Pre-Seasoned Reversible Cast Iron Griddle (5056461700596)
  • Emba Griddle and 8″ Skillet Set (5056461701029)
  • Emba Griddle and 10″ Skillet Set (5056461700626)
  • Emba Griddle and 12″ Skillet Set (5056461701036)
  • Emba Complete Cookware Collection (All skillets + griddle) (5056461701043).

It is strongly advised that consumers of any of these products stop using them immediately. Since testing has shown potential migration of heavy metal content during the use of the products, the OPSS has emphasized that the products are a health hazard.

The emergency recall was precipitated by this alarming find. The manufacturer of the goods, Emba Cookware, has apologized back.

A spokesperson stated: “We have decided to recall certain items of Emba branded cookware due to the potential migration of heavy metal components identified during recent testing. We believe it is prudent to issue a recall at this stage. The quality and safety of our cookware is our priority, and we regret…that we may not have met the highest standards in this incident.”.

Customers will be given a full refund once the item is returned. Aside from the recall of high-quality cookware, this recall calls into question food safety laws since the affected products fail to comply with the General Product Safety Regulations of 2005 or the Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (England) Regulations of 2012. These regulations are meant to protect customers against potential health threats, and violations are taken very seriously.

The authorities want everyone to look into their cookware for the recalled items and to urge consumers to take action at once. Emba customer service is prepared to assist affected consumers with further questions about this recall.

It is thought that the recalled cast iron kitchenware has been sold since 2023, and some sales had been conducted as recently as this January.

It was tested ‘to find probable migration of heavy metal components’ on use, with nine of the brand’s products being discontinued because of it. They were available from December 27, 2023, to January 24, 2025.

Customers will be required to provide their original order number, phone number, and product details to achieve this. Customers will be given instructions for returning the products and obtaining a full refund upon confirmation.

As per the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), “the products pose a risk to health because testing has found there is the potential migration of heavy metal components on use of the product.”

Also, as per the OPSS, unsafe products fail to comply with food and product safety laws. The ultimate customers of the products have been recalled.

The owners need to stop using the affected products as a way. The nine affected items do present a “health risk” when used, but their precise level of risk has yet to be ascertained. For further information, customers can email Emba Cookware at info@embacookware.co.uk to initiate the returns process on these recalled cookware products.
