The Buffalo Bills have beaten the Miami Dolphins 31-10 in Florida, using three first-half touchdown runs by James Cook and two interceptions by Ja ‘Marcus Ingram to blast the Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium.
The loss was not the biggest concern for Miami, but, as quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion late in the third quarter. James Crook scored three touchdowns, two of them on the ground.
Tagovailoa left the game in the third quarter following a collision with Damr Hamlin in which he hit his head on the ground. Tagovailoa suffered two concussions in 2022.
The match was long over by the time he left, with the Bills opening a 24-10 lead by the break and extending their lead when Ja’Marcus returned an intercept from Tagovailoa 31 yards for a touchdown.
Josh Allen threw for 139 yards with a glove protecting his injured non-throwing hand and found Cook from 17 yards to start the scoring. Tagovailoa found Devon Achane from five yards to level things up.
But, in the second quarter, the Bills pulled away, Tyler Bass landing a 43-yard field goal before Cook ran in a pair of touchdowns from one and 49 yards.
Jason Sanders answered with a field goal from 34 yards as time ran out in the first half. however, the Dolphins could manage no more scores in an anti-climactic second half.
Dolphins receiver, Tyreek Hill was restricted to just 24 yards on three catches. Police detained Tyreek Hill on his way to last week’s opening match in a case that has made headlines all over the week.
After the match, Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel says that the team will have Tua Tagovailoa further evaluated on Friday before considering further steps after the quarterback suffered a concussion last night.
McDaniel added that Tua was in good spirits and was trying to keep his teammates’ heads up after the match.
Not only did the Miami Dolphins lose for the 10th time in their past 11 matchups with their AFC East rivals, but they potentially lost their quarterback for an undetermined amount of time. Things were not going well even before the injury.
The attention now turns to Tagovialoa, he has a history of concussions.
The Bills improved the 2-0 with the win and will face the Jacksonville Jaguars in week 3.
Miami fell to 1-1 and will play Seattle on September 22.
