Melania Trump has publicly defended her past nude modeling work in a recent video shared on social media, asserting her pride in those experiences as part of a boarded artistic expression.
This statement comes as she promotes her upcoming memoir, titled Melania, set for release on October 8.
In the video, Trump questions the media’s scrutiny of her modelling career, asking, “Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photoshoot?”
She compared her modelling to classic art and sculpture, “Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body?”
She reminds Mum that there is nothing wrong with a one-time model posing nude throughout her career, which spread even after they became the subject of a New York Post-generated controversy during the 2016 election.
She emphasizes the importance of appreciating the beauty of the human body, likening her work to classical art.
“Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape,” she stated, advocating for the recognition of bodies as a significant form of artistic expression.
The first lady shared in her video, “We should honour our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression.”
The video features images of renowned artworks, including Michelangelo’s David and Paul Cezanne Bathers, reinforcing her argument that such expressions of the human form have long been celebrated in art. She concluded by urging society to honour and embrace this tradition.
The recent defence for her modelling history marks one of her most detailed public comments on the subject since leaving the White House in January 2021.
The defence reengaged with political discourse, albeit selectively, for the 2024 campaign.
While she has maintained a low profile compared to previous campaigns, recent statements suggest a strategic positioning as she prepares for her memoir’s release.
This message indicates an effort to reclaim the narrative and influence public perception as her husband campaigns for the presidency again.
She has expressed a desire to clarify misconceptions about her life and has indicated that the memoir will include never-before-shared stories and images. The book Melania will be including a strange and noirish clip from earlier this month and all point viewers to a pre-order link.
Melania said about the book, “As a private person who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel the responsibility to clarify the facts.”
